Without Any Post Processing: The Exposure Triangle

027.3 Lesson 03 of 08 3 quiz questions 1 assignment

The ambition of the exposure triangle — getting the right image in-camera without relying on post-processing — is not idealism; it is efficiency. Post-processing can correct a range of exposure problems, but it cannot recover detail in a completely blown highlight, and it cannot remove the digital noise introduced by a high ISO. More practically: every minute spent correcting an avoidable exposure error in software is a minute not spent on the next photograph. The Dean's instruction is to build exposure accuracy as a habit, not to treat it as a problem for editing to solve.
