The Journal of Photography & Visual Arts is the peer-reviewed open-access publication of Light & Composition University Press. We publish original research from academics, scholars, students, and practitioners across every discipline that broadens our horizon of knowledge.
Articles are not limited to art or photography — we welcome scholarship in science, education, mass communication, social economics, cultural issues, comparative religion, language and linguistics, business, and management.
All accepted articles are published online and freely accessible. Authors retain copyright under a Creative Commons licence.

Author Guidelines
Preparing Your Manuscript
Please read all guidelines carefully before submitting to avoid delays in the review process.
- Word count: 3,000–8,000 words (excluding references)
- File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or PDF
- Font: Times New Roman 12pt, double-spaced
- Abstract: 250–300 words with 4–6 keywords
- All tables and figures must be numbered and captioned
- Remove all identifying information before submission
- Use APA 7th edition citation style throughout
- All in-text citations must have a corresponding reference list entry
- Self-citations must be anonymised for blind review
- DOI links are required where available
- Personal communications may be cited but not listed in references
- Manuscripts must be written in clear, academic English
- Non-native English speakers are encouraged to seek language editing before submission
- All research involving human participants must have ethics approval
- Plagiarism check is carried out on all submissions
- AI-generated content must be disclosed and is subject to editorial review
- Authors retain copyright of their published work
- Articles published under Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence
- All published content is freely accessible with no paywall
- Authors may share and archive their accepted manuscripts
- Simultaneous submission to other journals is not permitted
