Making Work Public: Type, Image, and the Craft of Publication

The Art of Publication - Photography Publication, Online Photography Courses, Photography Education, Art Photography, Photojournalism(c) Light & Composition University

To publish is to display your work to the public — and the key to it all is the text; typography, imagery, form, and colour are how that text finally speaks.

A complete path through the craft of publication: what it means to publish and why the text comes first; the five fields — print, visual identity, marketing, digital, and the interactive interface; and the working craft they demand — typography, the grid and the composed page, colour and the CMYK model, and preparing a file for press and screen.

Course Overview

To publish is to display your work to the world — a far larger act than printing a page. This course covers type, image layout, sequence, and the craft decisions that stand between a finished photograph and a finished publication.
