Young Nuns by Ryszard Wierzbicki

During his third visit to the Angkor region of Cambodia, the photographer ventured into local villages alongside a licensed guide in search of authentic cultural narratives. While exploring the outskirts of Siem Reap, he encountered a rare and poignant sight: young girls living as Buddhist nuns. Capturing this candid moment required a keen eye for the unexpected, as such sightings are uncommon in rural Cambodia. The photograph stands out for its cultural significance and the genuine, fleeting connection between the observer and these young subjects, offering a rare glimpse into a traditional lifestyle rarely documented by outsiders.
