1/60sec at f/4.5, ISO 800. A compromise. The shutter speed is barely adequate for handheld work, and the noise floor at ISO 800 on a D5100 sensor is intrusive. It’s a muddy technical foundation. I’ve spent years looking at these files, and the lack of sharpness here irritates me. The depth of field doesn't isolate the subjects effectively. It’s a blurry attempt at documentary work that relies too heavily on the sentiment of the classroom.

The Sigma’s glass handles the ambient light beautifully, though I’m detecting minor longitudinal chromatic aberration on the high-contrast edges of the wooden desks. It’s a delicate balance. When I zoom into the pupils of the child in the foreground, the resolution of the D5100 sensor hits its limit, yet the humanity remains. It’s hauntingly precise. I’m genuinely moved.
