It’s a pleasant enough scene, though one suspects it was snatched while running errands. A quick click of the shutter, a bit of Tri-X, and there you have it. It’s charming, certainly, but I’ve spent enough freezing nights in Paris to know that true atmosphere isn’t found; it’s bled for. I’d have liked to see the photographer return at three in the morning, shivering, waiting for the light to actually earn its keep.
