One suspects Guchhait spent a few miserable, damp mornings watching those slopes before the light finally agreed to cooperate. It’s a quiet, painterly result that feels properly earned. I’ve stood in similar dampness, waiting for the architecture to emerge from the grey, and I find myself genuinely envious of the stillness he’s captured here. It’s a decent bit of work.

f/8 at 18mm, 1/125s, ISO 100. The kit lens is pushed to its limit here. Stopping down to f/8 was the correct call to sharpen the edges of those distant buildings against the mist. It’s a calculated risk that pays off. I’ve spent enough time in Ooty to know the light is deceptive, but this exposure holds the contrast well. It’s technically sound, though I’d prefer a tighter focal length to isolate the architecture.
