Home Reflections Turning Toward the Light

Turning Toward the Light

I spent this morning trying to fix a stubborn leak under my kitchen sink. I was frustrated, hunched over in the dark, feeling like I was losing the battle against a simple pipe. When I finally stood up and walked to the window, the sun had just cleared the neighbor’s roof. It hit the small potted plant on my sill, and for a second, I just stopped. I watched the leaves shift, ever so slightly, as if they were physically leaning into the warmth. It is such a quiet, persistent instinct—to find the light when things feel cramped or cold. We spend so much of our lives trying to solve problems, tightening bolts and clearing drains, that we often forget to just turn our faces toward the sun. It doesn’t require effort or a plan. It is just a gentle, silent choice to be where the warmth is. Do you have a place you go to when you need to feel that kind of quiet, golden optimism?
