Words Under the Boughs

I sat on a park bench last Wednesday, watching a stranger speak into his phone. He was leaning forward, elbows on his knees, his face illuminated by a smile so private that I felt like an intruder simply sharing the same gravel path. We carry our most intimate lifelines in these glass rectangles in our pockets. We can sit beneath an ancient banyan tree in the middle of a bustling subcontinent and, within three seconds, summon the voice of someone three thousand miles away. In that fragile bubble of conversation, the park disappears, the traffic ceases, and only two voices exist in the universe.

Seeyaa by Arun M Shobh

Arun M Shobh captures that peaceful cocoon of intimacy in his photograph titled Seeyaa. The lush green canopy frames a deeply relatable human moment. Who is the voice that always makes you feel instantly at home?
