I was kneeling in my garden this morning, trying to pull a stubborn weed from between the pavers, when I stopped. I had been so focused on the task—on clearing the space and making things look tidy—that I hadn’t noticed the tiny, vibrant life happening just inches from my knees. There was a whole universe of texture and color tucked away in the petals of a single bloom, something I would have crushed if I hadn’t paused. It made me realize how often we rush through our days, looking only at the big picture, the broad strokes of our to-do lists. We miss the intricate, quiet details that hold everything together. We walk past the wonders that don’t demand our attention, the small things that are busy existing, regardless of whether we notice them or not. It is a humbling thought, isn’t it? That there is so much beauty waiting for us, if only we would stop moving long enough to see it.
