The Art of Staying Still

I spent twenty minutes this morning looking for my keys, only to find them sitting right on the kitchen counter where I had placed them the night before. I had looked at that spot a dozen times, but my eyes just slid right over them. It is funny how we can be looking directly at something and still not see it at all. We are so used to scanning for movement or noise that we often miss the things that are perfectly content to be exactly where they are. It makes me wonder how many other things are hiding in plain sight while I am busy rushing through my day. Maybe the world is full of quiet secrets that only reveal themselves when we finally decide to stop moving and just breathe. What if the most important things aren’t the ones that demand our attention, but the ones that wait patiently for us to notice them?

Camouflaged by Kurien Koshy Yohannan

Kurien Koshy Yohannan has captured this delicate balance in his image titled Camouflaged. It reminds me that sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones that have mastered the art of blending in. Does this image make you want to look a little closer at the world around you?
