Home Reflections Above the Quiet World

Above the Quiet World

I was sitting on the train this morning, staring at the back of the seat in front of me, when I realized I hadn’t looked out the window for miles. I was so caught up in my own thoughts—the grocery list, the emails, the things I needed to fix—that I had completely forgotten where I was. I finally pulled my gaze away and looked down. Everything below looked so small and orderly. The roads were just thin lines, and the houses looked like toys left out on a rug. It’s strange how much perspective changes when you stop focusing on the ground right in front of your feet. We spend so much of our lives navigating the clutter of the day-to-day, rarely realizing that there is an entire world moving along beneath us, indifferent to our small worries. It makes me wonder what else we miss because we are too busy looking at the floor. What would change if we spent more time looking at the bigger picture?

Sandra Frimpong has captured this feeling perfectly in her image titled Sky collection. It reminds me that sometimes we need to lift our eyes to find a bit of peace. Does this view make you feel small, or does it make you feel free?
