The Puller, by Shahnaz Parvin

Once on the way to Sonargoan, the Dhaka – Chittagong highway, I saw this man with a pulling van carrying an enormous amount of empty drums. I was on an auto riksa and asked my driver to stop. I got down but the highway was full with other vehicles, so I started to run with this van and was looking for an empty space, then managed to get few shots. Recently Reuters has published one of my photographs on this series, but to be honest, I got inspired by one of the similar work of renowned Bangladeshi photographer M R Hasan, though that was in Black and White, and in mine I wanted to give more focus on the color. This photograph has another meaning to me; the electric lines seem as if pulling the van with this man. Just like our life, we have to pull ourselves together and move forward.
