This was taken on 22/07/2016. In Burnie,Tasmania, Australia. I had spent two days with local Firefighters at Burnie Fire station, doing a behind the scenes photo shoot. I wanted to take photos of the guys on station, allowing the public to see what went on when they aren’t running lights & sirens. I just wanted people to see they were normal, seeing a different side to the firefighters. This year in Tasmania has been busy for all emergency services, with major bush fires and flooding. This was my way of giving something back to all emergency services. They invited me to spend time with them, to see the other side, and for that I’m grateful for having that chance. This photo was taken on the second day, around 8 am while they did equipment checks on all the vehicles, and this like all of my photos was candid with they guys doing what they normally do.

Photograph Location: Burnie, Tasmania, Australia

Photographer: Blair Horgan (Burnie, Australia) Registered
Started in Melbourne, Australia, Blair Horgan learned the basics from Rennie Ellis while on work experience, and caught the photography bug way back in 1991. Photography has always been in the background, just that his life got in the way. He has taken it up full-time, as life allows him time with photography, his family and his daughters love to pose, be part of what he does. He finds that he prefers capturing life as it happens, not posing for it.
