Young Pilgrim by Ryszard Wierzbicki

Boudhanath, also called Bodnath, is one of the largest stupas in the world. Located in the eastern part of Kathmandu, about eight kilometers from the city center, it features a massive white dome, a golden spire, and the eyes of Buddha facing the four directions. Official tourist sources in Nepal confirm that it is the largest stupa in the Kathmandu Valley and lies to the east of the city center. Boudhanath Stupa is incredibly important site for Tibetan Buddhists. Its eyes — yes, those large eyes on the square tower — symbolise the Buddha’s all-seeing wisdom. Relics are enshrined beneath the dome, and the entire complex is a place of prayer, ritual circumambulation in a clockwise direction, and encounters between people from all over the world. Around the stupa, you will see stalls, monks dressed in burgundy robes, and pilgrims carrying prayer wheels. The whole place has a peaceful atmosphere, despite being located in the heart of a large city. This local girl was with one of the pilgrims who were walking around the stupa.
