Two hundred and ninety-six steps down to Egremni, and one suspects the photographer didn’t just stumble upon this composition. It’s a long way to haul a 60D, and I’ve certainly felt the burn in my own calves looking at those stairs. He’s waited for the light to settle, stripping away the noise until only the path remains. It’s a quiet, disciplined piece of work. He earned the stillness here. I’d have likely stopped for a drink halfway.

    This is a very serene image. But the real thing, not so much. There are strong currents and huge waves crashing against the shore, since the beach faces the open sea. It’s not quiet at Egremnoi, either. Fortunately, this photo carries no sound. ;)
