Drifting in the Dark

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, but I ended up just sitting on the floor, staring at the dust motes dancing in a single beam of sunlight. It is funny how easy it is to lose track of time when you stop trying to control it. We spend so much of our lives moving with purpose, rushing from one task to the next, that we forget how to simply exist in the current. There is a strange, quiet power in letting go of the need to be solid. Sometimes, the most honest way to move through the world is to be soft, to let the environment carry you, and to trust that you will find your way without needing to fight the tide. We are so afraid of being formless, yet there is a profound peace in simply being a pulse of light in the vast, dark water. Do you ever feel like you are just waiting for the water to decide where you should go next?

The Moon Jelly by Ann Arthur

Ann Arthur has captured this feeling perfectly in her image titled The Moon Jelly. It feels like a quiet meditation on letting go and drifting through the deep. Does this image make you feel restless, or does it bring you a sense of calm?
