Secrets in the Small
I spent twenty minutes this morning trying to find my keys, only to realize they were sitting right under a pile of mail I had ignored since Tuesday. It is funny how we look past the things right in front of us. We are always scanning the horizon for something big, something loud, or something important, while the world hums along in the tiny corners we choose to overlook. There is a whole universe tucked away in the textures of a leaf or the way dust dances in a sliver of afternoon sun. When we finally stop to look, really look, we find that the most ordinary things are actually holding their breath, waiting for us to notice their hidden patterns. It makes me wonder how many miracles I have walked past today simply because I was too busy looking for my keys. What have you missed today by looking too far ahead?

Mai Phuong Duong has taken this beautiful image titled Fires. It captures that exact sense of wonder found in the smallest details of our world. Does this image make you want to slow down and look a little closer at your own surroundings?
