The Geometry of Ascent
Dear reader, I have been thinking about the way we choose to climb. We are always looking for a way up, aren’t we? We trace patterns in the air, hoping that if we follow the right curve, we might eventually reach a place where the air is thinner and the view is clearer. But there is a strange comfort in the repetition of a path that circles back on itself. It suggests that progress isn’t always a straight line toward a destination, but a slow, rhythmic turning. We are held by the structure of our own choices, bound by the walls we build to guide our feet. Sometimes, the most honest way to move forward is to simply look up and trust that the path will continue to unfold, even when the end is hidden from sight. Do you ever feel that your life is just a series of loops, each one bringing you a little closer to the center of yourself?

Jack Hoye has captured this feeling beautifully in his image titled Spiral. It reminds me that even in the most rigid structures, there is a grace to be found in the climb. Does this path look like somewhere you would like to go?
