Home Reflections Where the Edges Soften

Where the Edges Soften

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, pulling out volumes I haven’t touched in years. I found a dried leaf pressed between the pages of a journal from a decade ago. It was brittle and faded, but it held the exact shape of the tree it once belonged to. It made me think about how we try to hold onto things—moments, people, versions of ourselves—as if they could stay fixed in time. But life isn’t a static thing. It is constantly shifting, moving in and out of the light. We spend so much energy trying to define our boundaries, to keep our edges sharp and clear, yet the most beautiful parts of our day are often the ones where the lines blur. It is in the transition, in the space where one thing fades into another, that we find the most room to breathe. Do you ever feel like you are waiting for the light to hit just right before you can finally see things clearly?

Light and Shadow by Fidan Nazim Qizi

Fidan Nazim Qizi has captured this feeling perfectly in her image titled Light and Shadow. It reminds me that even the most rigid structures can become something soft and poetic when the sun decides to change the view. What do you see when you look at these shapes?
