It’s a decent enough snap, but one wonders if the photographer simply sat in his seat and waited for the stage lights to do the heavy lifting. I’ve spent enough nights shivering in damp hills to know that true craft requires more than a lucky shutter press during a performance. It’s pretty, certainly, but it lacks the grit of a hard-won frame. I’d have preferred he find the lantern when the theater was empty and silent.
