"Pristine wilderness" is a dangerous myth. When we frame Chilko Lake as an empty sanctuary, we erase the Indigenous histories etched into these shores. Why does the composition demand such silence? Whose land are we actually admiring here? It’s beautiful, but it’s hauntingly hollow.
