A Rear View of Fullerton Building by Siew Bee Lim

Captured in November 2018, this night photograph of the Fullerton Building highlights the transition into the festive season. The photographer utilized the ambient glow of decorative lighting on the hotel and surrounding foliage to contrast against a moody, cloud-covered evening sky. By choosing a unique vantage pointβ€”a departure from earlier daytime studies of the architectureβ€”the image captures a somber, atmospheric stillness. The long exposure technique effectively balances the building's structural elegance with the soft, festive illumination, resulting in a composition that transforms a familiar landmark into a scene of quiet, nocturnal wonder.

Reflections on this Photograph
By Isabelle Park

The Quiet After the Rush

I walked home late last night, long after the shops had pulled their shutters down. The city felt different, stripped of the usual noise and the frantic pace of people rushing toward their next destination.

The Architecture of Silence

We often mistake the night for an absence, a hollow space where the day’s colors go to hide. But the dark is not empty; it is a heavy velvet curtain, thick with the residue of everything we have said and done since dawn.
