This elephant trainer has spent 32 years with this single elephant since it was born, training him and being his master… The elephant clearly respects and responds to each signal and sound that the master says to him, I felt the strong bond between the two and how amazingly can this big mammal be tamed and turned into a loyal being. The hook is an essential tool that the trainer uses, it’s not meant to harm the creature rather than being a tool of showing seriousness in training, by tapping it on the elephant it immediately responds.

“Born in 1976 in Jerusalem, Eyad Al Shami grew up with the tend to try different hobbies including Pool, Chess, Music Instruments, Diving, Card Magic, Bowling. But photography was the most serious one when he bought his first camera in 2000, it was a point and shoot that he carried with him everywhere… He was fascinated with low light and night shots, street and nature… However the serious journey started with his first DSLR “Canon 450D” in 2007 that his wife bought him on their anniversary, since then it was never the same… Continuous reading, dedication and practice is what he was focusing on since that day… he believes there is still so much to learn and apply but practice is always the key.
He is working in IT industry sales which is a demanding career, so is photography… Finding time to go out and shoot is one of his challenges, that’s why he don’t spare time during his travels as he always shoot what appeals to him. Photographing Kids/ Street and Low Light scenes is what he loves and will one day adopt one of them as the main path in his photography journey.”

Chiang Mai peanut seller crossing the road and I was also crossing the road and I stopped and snapped his picture. But I nearly got hit my a Tuk Tuk.

This photograph was taken in Koh Phi-Phi Island on January 7, 2010. Phi-Phi could be one of these paradise islands if the mass tourism wasn’t reigning there. This shot was almost my only inspiration there, caught in all the violence and sins. Some people say that the soil here did not have the time to recover from the tragic deaths caused by the tsunami. Since then the flames of hell are burning.

The process of paddling a rice field, is a miserable job in the muck that is paddled, As i watched as the day progressed, more and more birds (Egrets I believe) showed up for a feast, by the end of the day hundreds of these white birds where swarming around the paddling machine… quite a site to see. This photograph was taken in Songkhla Province, Thailand.
