Photo of the Day | October 27 | Salmon Sushi, by Bashar Alaeddin

Food is a huge part of my life, my parents and grand-parents were amazing cooks and my dad worked as a food critic once in the 70′s. So it was just a matter of time before I got into the Food genre and started working with restaurants and hotels. This shot was part of a series I was working on with Asian foods. I tried to bring out the tiny texture of the salmon and rice which no one usually notices when they’re eating.

Bashar Nabil Alaeddin is a digital photographer based in Amman, Jordan. He has been to photography since 2003 and lately he has become more specialized in the genre’s of fine art landscapes and food. Although he works in other genre’s as well, he feels he has become more comfortable with genre’s that let him take his time to be meticulous about his photo’s. He wants his photographs to evoke some emotion, to make the audience feel that they need to be in that scene right now, to make them wish they were eating that dish at this moment. He tries to show the world how it looks through his eyes. Alaeddin believes photography is a visual language, a whole essay or speech being spoken with just one image and he hopes that his minimalist style cuts straight to that point.
