Home Reflections The Weight of the Horizon

The Weight of the Horizon

I spent this morning trying to clear out my closet, pulling out sweaters I haven’t worn in three years. It’s funny how we hold onto things, thinking they might be useful again, or that they define a version of ourselves we aren’t quite ready to let go of. I found an old scarf, dusty and forgotten, and for a moment, I just sat on the floor with it. It made me think about how much of our lives is spent carrying extra weight. We move through our days burdened by plans, expectations, and the constant need to be somewhere else. But what if we just stopped? What if we let the landscape swallow the noise for a while? There is a quiet power in being small against something vast. It reminds me that we don’t always need to be the center of the story. Sometimes, the most honest thing we can do is simply exist in the space we are given, moving slowly toward whatever edge we can see.

Sunset Camel Ride by Rabih Madi

Rabih Madi has captured this feeling perfectly in his image titled Sunset Camel Ride. It feels like a quiet pause in the middle of a very busy world. Does it make you want to slow down, too?
