The Weight of Honest Work
I walked past a field recently where workers were separating fibers in the warm afternoon air. The concentration in their eyes was complete; there was no hurried glance at a watch, no restless urge to be elsewhere. They were entirely inside the work. It occurred to me that mastery is not about complexity, but about giving your whole heart to a simple task until it turns into art.
This photograph, ‘The Earthy Soul of Manikganj’ by Shahnaz Parvin, speaks with the quiet authority of the earth itself. I find myself returning to the light in this frame again and again.
