The Road Behind Us
I spent this morning clearing out a box of old maps from my glove compartment. They were crinkled and torn at the folds, marked with highlighter ink from trips I barely remember taking. It felt strange to hold them, realizing how much of my life has been spent in transit, moving from one place to another while the world blurred past the glass. We spend so much energy obsessing over the destination, checking the clock, and worrying about the arrival time. But looking at those maps, I realized the best parts weren’t the places I reached. They were the moments in between—the feeling of wind against my skin, the way the landscape shifted when I wasn’t looking, and the simple, quiet thrill of just being in motion. We are always leaving something behind, aren’t we? I wonder if we ever truly appreciate the view until we are already miles away from it.

Tisha Clinkenbeard has captured that exact feeling of transition in her beautiful image titled From the Back of the Bike. It perfectly mirrors the way we experience the world when we stop trying to control the journey. Does this view make you want to keep moving, or does it make you want to pull over and stay a while?
