Home Reflections The First Breath of Day

The First Breath of Day

There is a specific quality to the world just before the sun breaks the horizon. It is a time when the earth seems to hold its breath, suspended between the long rest of the night and the awakening of the light. In this blue-hued interval, the mountains do not speak; they simply exist, ancient and patient, waiting for the first touch of warmth. We often rush toward the brightness, eager for the day to begin, yet there is a profound grace in lingering in the transition. It is a reminder that we, too, are allowed to exist in the quiet, to be unformed and still before the demands of the world arrive. To witness this shift is to understand that change does not always require noise or movement. Sometimes, the most significant transformations happen in the soft, cool silence of a world that is not yet awake, where the only thing required of us is to be present and to receive the coming day with a grateful heart. What remains when the stars fade but the sun has not yet appeared?

Salfeins Alm by Karin Eibenberger

Karin Eibenberger has captured this sacred transition in her beautiful image titled Salfeins Alm. It invites us to stand on the edge of the world and feel the stillness of the mountains as they wait for the light. Will you take a moment to breathe with them?
