The Currency of Light

We spend our days trading in heavy things—the weight of expectations, the iron-wrought schedules, the gravity of what we think we must become. We forget that there is a lighter currency, one that does not require a vault or a ledger. It is the sudden, unbidden bloom of a smile, a brief rebellion against the solemnity of the world. Like a seed that finds a crack in the pavement and decides, against all logic, to turn into a flower, joy is an act of defiance. It does not ask for permission; it simply arrives, turning the grey dust of the ordinary into something luminous. To witness it is to be reminded that we were all once capable of such effortless radiance, before we learned to build walls around our own hearts. If we could carry that lightness like a lantern, would the shadows ever dare to settle? Or would they simply dissolve, leaving only the warmth of a sun that never sets?
