The Coolness of Being
There is a particular kind of grace found in the heat of the day, when the sun asks us to slow our pace and seek the shade. It is in these moments of stillness that we learn the true value of a single drop of water, a fleeting touch of coolness against the skin. We spend so much of our lives rushing toward the next season, forgetting that the present is a sanctuary if we only allow ourselves to inhabit it fully. A child understands this better than anyone. They do not worry about the passing of the hours or the weight of the sun; they simply exist within the relief of the moment, finding a world of wonder in the simplest of gifts. To be that present, to let the world wash over us without the need to define or capture it, is to return to a state of quiet gratitude. The earth provides, and we are invited to receive, letting the warmth fade into the background of a deeper, cooler peace.
