During the partition of 1947, some 125 families migrated to Parbatipur of Rajshahi district, and to various areas of Old Dhaka, Becharam Deuri, Kazi Alauddin Road, Kaiktuli, Tanti Bazar, Doyaganj and Gandaria from Benaras in India.
