Light as Language: A Foundation Course in Photography

Light is the most fundamental element in photography — not technique, not gear, not composition alone. Every creative decision a photographer makes starts with understanding the quality, colour, direction, and behaviour of light.

Through eight structured lessons, you will develop the language of light: soft versus hard, warm versus cool, direct versus diffused. You will learn to read a scene before raising your camera and make deliberate decisions that transform an ordinary image into a visual statement.
