The Language of Possibility and Choice

This intermediate course teaches the grammar of attitude and imagination. You will move from the three moods (indicative, imperative, subjunctive) through the modal verbs of ability, permission, obligation, advice, and deduction, and on to the conditionals that describe both real futures and unreal, hypothetical worlds.

The approach is practical and example-rich. Rather than memorising abstract rules, you will study patterns through dozens of natural sentences and short tasks that ask you to advise, request, deduce, and suppose in your own words.

By the end you will command the difference between necessity and suggestion, between what is likely and what is merely possible, and between conditions that can still come true and those that never can — then bring them all together in a capstone project.
