Lavi loves art, culture, nature, children, and photographing them. She thinks life is beautiful and loves to experience the beauty with her photography, especially the sunrise, sunset, new places, and its people.

Greetings from Light & Composition University, Lavi Dhurve. How does it feel being selected as the winner of Photo of the Month – 97th Month, 1st Place?

Your photograph “In Summer” won the 1st Place in the Photo of the Month – 97th Month, is a wonderful Black & White photographs, with artistic perspective, correct lighting, and very well presented. Overall, a great composition! Tell us more about your experience of taking this photograph.

Lavi Dhurve
I took this image just before coming from my village to Indore. An hour before my journey, I was free and wanted to take some photos with my phone so that I can see it later. I went out to take picture of my house and that’s when I noticed this little boy of our neighbour, who was playing with the water. It was summer and what could be better than getting refresh with water.

Lavi Dhurve
I love to take photos. there’s a vision in me. I have good eyes. Long sight! (As my brother say). I have been doing this for nearly 3 years. This passion makes me live a different perspective every day and it’s an amazing lifestyle. And yes I’m proud of my work and achievements.

How do you see your journey to the world of photography so far?

It has been a fascinatingly challenging journey so far.

As we know, you are originally from a small village in India. Do you think the rich diverse cultural and artistic heritage of India portrayed a different essence to you?

Lavi Dhurve
Yes, I am from a small village located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, known as the ‘Heart of India’. My village is surrounded by trees from all sides and the Tawa River flows from nearby.All the houses in the village are built of soil. Everyone indulges in farming.They have different culture and customs.This is why it influence my work. And yes, I think the rich diverse cultural of this place portrays a different essence to me.

Do you like a particular genre of photography and if so, why?

Lavi Dhurve
Nature, still life and portrait photography have long been my major interests.Because i am from a village. I love village life and culture. Because the people of the village are very clean hearted. They are not artificial.

One of the keys to any style of photography is visualization. Please tell us how you started this process and what you did afterwards.

Lavi Dhurve
Visualization is what I normally do before I tap the click button on my mobile phone. It may or may not come out as you expected, but you never know sometimes you get an extraordinary photo.

Have you ever exhibited your work? If so, then tell us about your first exhibiting experience.

Lavi Dhurve
My images have been exhibited by “Art on Click” company in “Vindhya International Film Festival Sidhi (Madhya Pradesh). It was my photography exhibition. I met a lot of people. They liked and appreciated my work.Their appreciation increased my confidence. It was great experience.

Are you involved with any photography organizations? How does this help you in your photography?

Lavi Dhurve
Yes. Light and composition. I have been involved with. It is the first such organization whose publication photos attracted me. It taught me how to use natural light in photography.It developed in me an understanding of portrait photography.For this I am grateful to the Light & Composition community.
