The rain was drumming down this afternoon, and I was starting to feel a bit cooped up inside. But instead of surrendering to the gloomy weather, I decided to turn it into an opportunity for a fun baking and photography session! I've always loved the challenge and satisfaction of baking beautiful and delicious treats. Today, I was craving something colorful and a little whimsical, so I decided to whip up a batch of these vibrant champagne macarons. While the cookies were baking, I prepped my camera to capture them. I wanted to create a photo that was just as cheerful and bright as the cookies themselves. Using natural light, I arranged the macarons in champagne glasses for a bit of fun. Even though I was stuck inside, these little macarons brought a ray of sunshine to my day.

A Man and His Phone by Leanne Lindsay

We were setting up for some night shots at Darling Harbour - the city lights shimmering on the water were calling my photographer's soul! But next to me, hubby looked a little...well, bored. Let's be honest, night photography isn't everyone's cup of tea. Then, of course, the phone came out. Just as I turned to give him a gentle nudge (because come on, Sydney Harbour at night!), I saw the way the single streetlamp cast light on his face. It was like a spotlight, highlighting his concentration on the screen. In that split second, I knew I had to capture it! Now, I don't know what magical meme or cat video stole his attention that night, but this black and white shot perfectly captures the contrast - the dazzling city bokeh waiting to be captured, and the ever-present allure of the phone screen.

The happy chaos of my grandkids playing outside turned quiet as I rounded a corner. There she was, Ivy, on the doorstep, bathed in warm sunlight streaming from the open door. But she wasn't alone. Her beloved teddy bear sat expectantly in her lap. "Playing with Teddy," a new favorite photo, captures this heartwarming scene. Ivy, her back to the camera, leans in close to her furry friend. Her tiny hand reaches out, urging the teddy to do "blow bubbles." This black and white photo is powerful in its simplicity. It's not about the colors, but the pure wonder in Ivy's eyes. Her imagination transforms the ordinary doorstep into a stage for extraordinary possibilities. The teddy bear becomes a co-star, ready to join the bubble-blowing fun. "Playing with Teddy" is a reminder of a child's boundless creativity, where everyday objects come alive, and dreams take flight. Don't you wish they could always stay this innocent.
