Home Reflections Where the Tide Retreats

Where the Tide Retreats

The shore is a place of constant negotiation. The sea claims, then it yields. We walk the line between what is solid and what is fluid, forgetting that the ground beneath us is only a temporary agreement. There is a weight to stone that suggests permanence, yet even the hardest rock is merely waiting for the water to finish its work. We build our lives on these edges, convinced of our own stability, while the horizon shifts behind our backs. To stand at the boundary is to accept that nothing is truly held. We are guests of the tide, watching the light pull away from the earth, leaving behind only the salt and the silence of things that have been shaped by time. When the water leaves, what remains of us? Does the stone remember the pressure of the waves, or is it simply relieved to be dry for a moment?

Sunset Near Three Sisters by Manon Mathieu

Manon Mathieu has captured this quiet surrender in her image titled Sunset Near Three Sisters. The light touches the stone as if it were a final, fleeting promise. Does the stillness here feel like an ending or a beginning to you?
