The Persistence of Yellow

I keep a pressed daffodil inside a heavy book of poetry, its once-vibrant trumpet now flattened into a translucent, papery ghost. It was picked during a spring that felt as though it would never arrive, back when the frost still clung to the windowpanes like a stubborn secret. To hold it now is to touch a moment of defiance; it reminds me that life does not always ask for permission before it begins to bloom. We often think of growth as a loud, sudden event, but it is usually a quiet, persistent labor—a slow pushing through the cold, dark earth until the light becomes impossible to ignore. We carry these small, dried remnants of seasons past to prove to ourselves that the thaw is inevitable, even when the world feels frozen in place. How many winters have we survived simply by waiting for the color to return to the garden? What are you holding onto that promises a new beginning?

Daffodils – A Symbol of New Beginnings by Ashu Chawla

Ashu Chawla has taken this beautiful image titled Daffodils – A Symbol of New Beginnings. It captures that same quiet, stubborn strength that pushes through the frost to find the sun. Does this bloom make you feel the warmth of the coming spring?
