A Moment of Stillness
I spent this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in the kitchen. It was one of those small, nagging tasks that I had been putting off for weeks. I kept dropping the wrench, and my hands were covered in grease, feeling completely clumsy. Then, a small bird landed on the windowsill outside. It didn’t care about my frustration or the dripping pipe. It just sat there, perfectly still, vibrating with a kind of quiet energy that made me stop and hold my breath. In that second, the pressure to be productive vanished. We spend so much of our lives rushing to finish the next thing on our list, convinced that our value is tied to how much we can fix or change. But maybe there is a different kind of value in simply existing, in being vibrant and present without needing to do anything at all. When was the last time you let yourself be completely still, just to watch the world go by?

Saniar Rahman Rahul has captured this beautiful image titled The Purple-throated Sunbird. It reminds me exactly of that quiet, fleeting encounter at my window. Does this image make you feel a sense of calm, too?
