Home Reflections The Quiet Between Branches

The Quiet Between Branches

I spent this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in the kitchen. It was one of those small, nagging tasks I had been putting off for weeks. I kept dropping the wrench, and the sound of metal hitting the floor felt incredibly loud in the silence of the house. Eventually, I just stopped. I sat on the floor and listened. Outside, the wind was moving through the trees, and for a few minutes, I didn’t care about the water or the tools. I just watched the way the leaves shifted, rhythmic and steady, completely indifferent to my frustration. It is strange how we spend so much of our lives trying to control the small mechanics of our days, forgetting that there is a much larger, quieter world happening just beyond the window. When we finally stop moving, we realize we were never really in charge of the rhythm anyway. We are just guests in a very old, very patient garden. Do you ever find yourself waiting for the world to be still so you can finally hear your own thoughts?

Life by David Anthonio

David Anthonio has captured this beautiful, quiet stillness in his photograph titled Life. It feels like a deep breath taken in the middle of a busy day. Does this image make you want to slow down, too?
