The Simple Act of Nourishing
I spent twenty minutes at the market this morning just looking at the radishes. They were so bright, almost glowing against the wooden crate, and for a moment, I forgot I was in a rush to get home. I ended up buying a bunch I didn’t even have a recipe for. It’s funny how we spend so much of our lives rushing through meals, eating over the sink or while scrolling through our phones, treating food like just another task to check off a list. We forget that these things came from the earth, that they have colors and textures meant to be noticed. When we slow down enough to actually see what is on our plate, it feels less like fuel and more like a quiet, daily celebration. It is a small way to be kind to ourselves, to acknowledge that we are worth the time it takes to prepare something real. What is the last thing you ate that actually made you stop and look at it?

Andres Felipe Bermudez Mesa has captured this feeling perfectly in his photograph titled Healthy Pleasure. It reminds me that there is a quiet beauty in the ingredients we often overlook. Does this image make you want to slow down and savor your next meal?
