The Weight of Laughter
I spent this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in my kitchen. I’m not very handy, and after an hour of wrestling with a wrench, I was covered in grime and feeling quite sorry for myself. Then, I heard the neighbor’s children playing in the alleyway. They were shouting and laughing, completely oblivious to the fact that they were covered in mud from head to toe. They didn’t seem to care about the mess or the work ahead of them; they were just finding joy in the middle of a chore. It made me realize how often I let the heaviness of my responsibilities dim my own spirit. We spend so much of our lives bracing for the next task, the next deadline, or the next problem to solve. We treat joy like a luxury we can only afford once the work is finished. But what if the laughter is the point, even when the hands are dirty and the day is long? Is it possible that resilience is just another word for knowing how to play while the world keeps turning?

Shovan Acharyya has captured this exact spirit in the beautiful image titled Wetland Boys. It serves as a gentle reminder that even in the most demanding circumstances, the human heart knows how to find its own light. Does this image make you think of a time when you found joy in an unexpected place?
