Home Reflections The Quiet After the Noise

The Quiet After the Noise

I spent most of this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in the kitchen. The constant dripping was driving me mad, a rhythmic tapping that felt like a countdown to nothing. I kept turning the wrench, frustrated by the stubborn metal, until I finally just stopped. I sat on the floor and listened. Once I stopped trying to force it, the sound didn’t seem so aggressive anymore. It became a steady, rhythmic pulse, almost like a heartbeat in the quiet house. It made me realize how much of our lives we spend fighting the rhythm of things instead of just sitting with them. We are so used to noise and movement that silence feels like a problem to be solved. But there is a strange, heavy peace in letting things be exactly as they are, even when they are broken or still. It is in those moments of surrender that the world finally stops rushing past us. What does the silence sound like in your own home when you finally stop to listen?

Prathees Surean has taken this beautiful image titled GN Power. It captures that same sense of stillness and deep, patient waiting that I found on my kitchen floor. Does this view make you feel as calm as it makes me?
