Home Reflections Standing Before the Giant

Standing Before the Giant

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, pulling out old journals and receipts that had slipped behind the stacks. It was a messy, dusty task, and for a while, I felt small and overwhelmed by all the little things I had accumulated over the years. Then I stepped outside to get some air. Looking up, I saw the clouds hanging low over the neighborhood, and suddenly, my to-do list felt entirely unimportant. There is something about looking at something truly massive that resets your internal clock. It doesn’t ask for your attention, yet it demands it. It reminds you that your worries are just tiny ripples in a much larger story. We spend so much time looking down at our feet, checking our steps, and worrying about the path, that we forget to look up at the things that have been standing there, silent and steady, long before we arrived. Does it ever make you feel relieved to realize how small you actually are?

Mt Rainier by Tisha Clinkenbeard

Tisha Clinkenbeard has captured that exact feeling of awe in her photograph titled Mt Rainier. It is a beautiful reminder of the giants that watch over us. What do you see when you look at this peak?
