Quiet Petals in the Dust

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, pulling out old paperbacks and dusting off spines I haven’t touched in years. It’s easy to get caught up in the clutter of things, the sheer volume of stuff we collect to feel grounded. But then I found a single pressed leaf inside a book of poems, its color faded to a soft, brittle brown. It reminded me that we spend so much time looking for grand gestures, for the loud and the permanent, while the most meaningful things are often the most fragile. Nature doesn’t ask for our attention; it simply exists, blooming and wilting in its own time, indifferent to our schedules or our need to categorize everything. There is a strange, quiet power in something that doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is. It makes me wonder: how much of our own beauty do we miss because we are too busy looking for something more complicated?
