The Rhythm of the Tide

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, pulling out old paperbacks I haven’t touched in years. I kept getting distracted by the way the dust motes danced in the sliver of sunlight hitting the floor. It was such a small, repetitive motion—up and down, drifting, then settling. It made me think about how much of our lives is just waiting for the next wave of energy to hit. We spend so much time bracing ourselves for the big storms, the dramatic shifts, that we forget the steady, rhythmic pulse of the ordinary. There is something deeply grounding about knowing that the world keeps moving in cycles, regardless of our own frantic attempts to keep things in order. We are just part of a larger, breathing system that doesn’t need our permission to rise or fall. Do you ever feel like you are just waiting for the water to pull you back out to sea?

Waves of Dos Bocas by Oscar Garcia

Oscar Garcia has captured this feeling perfectly in his image titled Waves of Dos Bocas. It reminds me that even in the most industrial corners of our world, there is a natural pulse waiting to be noticed. Does this scene make you feel restless or at peace?
