The Architecture of Silence

We build upward to escape the earth, stacking glass and steel as if height could grant us a clearer view of the infinite. In the desert, the night is a heavy curtain. We light these towers to prove we are still here, to carve a small, artificial warmth out of the vast, cooling dark. It is a fragile defiance. From a distance, the grid of windows looks like a map of constellations, yet each light represents a room, a breath, a life held in suspension. We are drawn to these patterns, searching for a symmetry that does not exist in the chaotic sprawl of our own days. We want to believe that if we can organize the light, we can organize the void. But the void remains, patient and indifferent, waiting for the power to fail, for the city to blink, for the silence to reclaim its territory. What happens to the light when no one is watching?
