The Weight of the Surface

We are taught to look for depth. We are told that the truth lies beneath the skin, under the ice, or deep within the sediment of a life. But there is a particular honesty in the surface. The way water holds a shape for a fraction of a second before the wind corrects it. The way a collective movement—a migration, a flight, a turn—requires no explanation from those participating in it. They do not ask why they move. They simply move. It is a quiet, rhythmic surrender to the current. We spend so much energy trying to anchor ourselves, trying to be the stone that resists the flow. We forget that the water is also a path. To be carried is not the same as being lost. Sometimes, the most profound thing one can do is to align with the others, to let the rhythm of the group dictate the breath. What happens when we stop trying to lead the current?

Siddhant Chauhan has taken this beautiful image titled The Struthious Syndrome. It captures that precise, silent alignment of movement. Does it make you want to follow where they are going?
