The Art of Standing Still
I stood on the train platform this morning, watching everyone around me check their phones every ten seconds. We are so afraid of being caught doing nothing. I caught myself doing it too, scrolling through emails that didn’t need answering, just to fill the silence. But then I looked up and saw a man standing near the edge, just watching the tracks. He wasn’t waiting for a notification or checking the time. He was just there, letting the world move around him while he stayed perfectly, calmly still. It made me realize how rare it is to see someone truly inhabit a space without trying to change it or escape it. We spend so much of our lives rushing toward the next thing, convinced that the value of our day is measured by how much we finish. But maybe there is a quiet power in simply occupying a moment, letting the minutes pass without demanding anything from them. What would happen if we all just stopped to watch the tracks for a while?

Von Christopher Trabado has captured this exact feeling of stillness in his beautiful image titled Waiting for Someone. It perfectly echoes that sense of patient, quiet presence in a busy world. Does this scene make you feel restless, or does it bring you a sense of peace?
