Home Reflections Waiting for the Next Train

Waiting for the Next Train

I missed my bus this morning by exactly ten seconds. I stood there on the curb, watching the tail lights fade into the gray morning mist, feeling that familiar sting of irritation. But then, I just stopped. I leaned against the brick wall of the station and watched the crowd. Everyone was moving so fast, heads down, phones glowing, rushing toward some invisible finish line. In the middle of all that frantic energy, I saw a man sitting on a bench, completely still. He wasn’t looking at a screen or checking his watch. He was just watching the world go by, his face etched with the kind of patience that only comes with years of practice. It made me realize how rarely we actually pause to inhabit our own lives. We are always in the middle of a transition, always waiting for the next thing to happen, forgetting that the waiting itself is a part of the journey. What are we really rushing toward, and what do we lose when we refuse to sit still?

Railway Station by Roberto Di Patrizi

Roberto Di Patrizi has captured this exact feeling of stillness in his beautiful image titled Railway Station. It reminds me that even in the busiest places, there is always room for a quiet moment of reflection. Does this image make you want to slow down, too?
